Defodin Antiseptic Solution contains povidone-iodine 100 mg/ml, a broad-spectrum topical antiseptic used to help prevent and treat skin infections associated with minor cuts, grazes, abrasions and wounds. It acts against a wide range of microorganisms including bacteria, viruses and fungi. The bottle contains 200 ml.
Defodin Antiseptic Solution is a topical preparation containing povidone-iodine 100 mg/ml. Povidone-iodine is a broad-spectrum antiseptic that acts against a wide range of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, fungi and other simple organisms.
The solution is used for the prevention and treatment of skin infections and may be applied to minor cuts, grazes, abrasions and wounds. It is intended for topical application to the skin only and must not be used internally.
For adults, elderly patients and children over 2 years of age, the solution may be applied directly to the affected skin once or twice daily as directed. After application, allow the area to dry. A dressing may be applied if required.
Care is required when povidone-iodine is used over extensively broken or burned skin because increased iodine absorption may occur. Patients with thyroid disorders, kidney problems or those receiving lithium treatment require particular caution.
Defodin Antiseptic Solution is supplied in a 200 ml pack and should be stored below 25°C away from ignition sources.

| Warning | Do not use if you are allergic to povidone-iodine or any ingredient of the product. Do not use in patients with current or previous thyroid disorders, including nodular colloid goiter, endemic goiter or Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, unless medically advised. Avoid use during lithium therapy because of the potential effect on thyroid function. Do not use in children under 2 years of age. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use on extensively broken or burned skin or if you have kidney problems. Excessive or prolonged use may affect thyroid or kidney function. Consult a healthcare professional before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. For external use only. Keep out of reach and sight of children. Store below 25°C and away from sources of ignition. Do not use after the expiry date. |
