How To Use Take Riaphyllin exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The dose is determined according to age, body weight, smoking status, and medical condition.

It is recommended to take the medicine after food.

Premature infants and newborns up to 6 weeks usually receive 4 mg/kg/day. Children aged 6 weeks to 6 months usually receive 10 mg/kg/day. Infants aged 6 months to 1 year usually receive 12–18 mg/kg/day. Children aged 1–9 years usually receive 20–24 mg/kg/day.

Children aged 9–12 years, adolescent daily smokers, and otherwise healthy adult smokers under 50 years usually receive 16 mg/kg/day. Adolescents aged 12–16 years usually receive 13 mg/kg/day.

Non-smoking adults, including otherwise healthy elderly patients, usually receive 10 mg/kg/day, up to a maximum of 900 mg/day. Patients with heart decompensation or lung and/or liver dysfunction usually receive 5 mg/kg/day, up to a maximum of 400 mg/day.
Warning Do not use if you are allergic to theophylline or any ingredient of the medicine. It should not be used in children who are taking ephedrine-containing medicines.

Stop use and seek medical attention if you develop signs of an allergic reaction such as shortness of breath, skin rash, swelling of the face or neck, low blood pressure, or dizziness.

Consult your doctor before use if you have severe heart disease, high blood pressure, hyperthyroidism, liver problems, epilepsy, peptic ulcer, sensitivity to xanthine derivatives, or other significant medical conditions.

Smoking can increase the removal of theophylline from the body and may affect the dose required. Blood tests may be recommended to ensure that the dose is appropriate.

Do not take theophylline at the same time as St. John's wort without medical advice. Tell your doctor if you use beta-2 agonists, corticosteroids, diuretics, cimetidine, allopurinol, furosemide, isoprenaline, oral contraceptives, antibiotics, calcium channel blockers, nizatidine, fluconazole, carbimazole, antiarrhythmics, anticoagulants, antiepileptics, antidepressants, antivirals, other xanthines, or other medicines and supplements.

Possible side effects include stomach upset, palpitations, headache, difficulty sleeping, irritability, anxiety, nausea, restlessness, excitability, vomiting, diarrhea, and muscle twitching.

Store below 25°C in the original package, protected from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children and pets, and do not use after the expiry date.
