| How To Use | Take Famodar exactly as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. The tablets can be taken before or after food and should be swallowed with water. For prevention of recurrent duodenal ulcers, the recommended dose is 20 mg at bedtime. For mild reflux oesophagitis, the recommended dose is 20 mg twice daily, usually for 6 weeks and, if necessary, up to 12 weeks. For Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, the recommended starting dose is 20 mg every 6 hours. The doctor may increase the dose depending on the response to treatment. Patients with kidney impairment may require a lower dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. |
| Warning | Do not take Famodar if you are allergic to famotidine, any ingredient of the medicine, or other H2-receptor antagonists. Consult your doctor or pharmacist before use if you have kidney problems. Dose adjustment may be required in patients with impaired kidney function. Famotidine may mask symptoms of other gastrointestinal conditions, and medical assessment may be required before starting treatment. Tell your doctor about all medicines you use, particularly itraconazole, ketoconazole, probenecid, antacids, sucralfate, posaconazole, certain anticancer medicines, atazanavir, or calcium carbonate used for hyperphosphataemia. If you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before taking Famodar. Dizziness or headache may occur. Avoid driving or operating machinery if affected. Store in a dry place below 30°C, protected from light. Keep out of the sight and reach of children and do not use after the expiry date. |
