Escitam 10 mg Film-Coated Tablets contain escitalopram, an antidepressant belonging to the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) group.
Escitalopram acts on the serotonin system in the brain and is used for the treatment of major depressive episodes, panic disorder with or without agoraphobia, social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

| How To Use | Take Escitam once daily, preferably at approximately the same time each day. Swallow the tablet with water. It may be taken with or without food. Use exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking Escitam suddenly; the dose should generally be reduced gradually under medical supervision. ([AJA Pharma][1]) |
| Warning | Use only under medical supervision. Do not use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) because serious interactions may occur. Monitor for worsening depression, unusual behavioral changes, or suicidal thoughts, particularly when treatment is started or the dose is changed. Tell your doctor if you have a history of seizures, mania or bipolar disorder, liver or kidney problems, or if you take other medicines that affect serotonin. Escitam may impair the ability to drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you. Use during pregnancy only when clearly necessary after medical assessment; exposure late in pregnancy may affect the newborn. Do not stop treatment abruptly during pregnancy. ([FDA Access Data][3]) |
| Dose | For adults, the usual dose for depression, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder is 10 mg once daily. For panic disorder, treatment may start at 5 mg once daily for the first week before increasing to 10 mg daily. The doctor may adjust the dose up to a maximum of 20 mg daily. ([AJA Pharma][1]) |
