Cloracef 375 mg/5 ml is a prescription oral antibiotic suspension containing cefaclor, a cephalosporin antibacterial medicine used to treat susceptible bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, throat, ear, sinuses, urinary tract, skin and soft tissues. The bottle provides 75 ml after reconstitution.
Cloracef 375 mg/5 ml is a prescription antibacterial medicine containing cefaclor, a cephalosporin antibiotic. Each 5 ml of the reconstituted oral suspension contains 375 mg of cefaclor as cefaclor monohydrate.
Cefaclor works against susceptible bacteria and may be prescribed for respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia, throat infections including tonsillitis and pharyngitis, middle ear infections, sinusitis, urinary tract infections such as cystitis and pyelonephritis, and selected skin and soft-tissue infections.
The medicine is supplied as granules for preparation of an oral suspension. Fresh clean drinking water is added according to the manufacturer's reconstitution instructions to produce a final volume of 75 ml. The bottle should be shaken thoroughly during preparation and before every dose to ensure even distribution of the medicine.
The exact dose is determined according to the patient's age, body weight, type and severity of infection and other clinical factors. Cloracef should only be used for bacterial infections when prescribed by a physician and is not effective against viral infections such as colds or influenza.
After reconstitution, the suspension should be refrigerated at 2–8°C and any unused portion discarded after 14 days.

| How To Use | Use exactly as prescribed by the physician. Reconstitute the granules with fresh clean drinking water according to the instructions on the bottle or leaflet to prepare 75 ml of suspension. Shake thoroughly during preparation and before every dose. Measure each dose accurately using the supplied measuring device or an appropriate oral syringe. Complete the prescribed treatment course unless the physician advises otherwise. After reconstitution, refrigerate at 2–8°C and discard any remaining suspension after 14 days. |

| Dose | For children and infants older than 1 month, the usual total daily dose is 20 mg/kg/day divided into three doses every 8 hours. For pharyngitis and otitis media, the total daily dose may be divided into two doses every 12 hours. In more severe infections, otitis media, sinusitis or infections caused by less susceptible organisms, 40 mg/kg/day in divided doses may be prescribed, up to a maximum of 1 g daily. Adults and elderly patients usually receive 250 mg every 8 hours, and the dose may be doubled for more severe infections. Use exactly as prescribed by the physician. |
