Cefim 200 mg Capsules contain cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat susceptible bacterial infections affecting areas such as the ear, sinuses, throat, respiratory tract and urinary system. Each oral capsule contains 200 mg cefixime, and the pack contains 8 capsules.
Cefim 200 mg Capsules are a prescription antibacterial medicine containing cefixime as the active ingredient. Cefixime is an orally active third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic with bactericidal activity against susceptible bacteria.
Cefim may be prescribed for susceptible bacterial infections of the ear, nose and sinuses, throat, chest and lungs, and urinary system. Examples include otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, cystitis and certain kidney infections when the responsible organism is susceptible to cefixime.
Each capsule contains 200 mg of cefixime and is intended for oral administration. The appropriate dose and duration depend on the type and severity of infection, patient age and weight, and kidney function. Patients with significant renal impairment may require a lower dose.
Cefim should only be used when prescribed by a physician and is not appropriate for viral infections such as the common cold or influenza. The prescribed treatment course should be completed unless the treating physician advises otherwise to support effective treatment and responsible antibiotic use.

| How To Use | Take Cefim exactly as prescribed by the physician. Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water. It may be taken with or without food. Take the medicine at the prescribed times and complete the treatment course for the number of days directed by the physician. Do not increase, reduce or stop the dose without medical advice. |
| Warning | Do not use if you are allergic to cefixime, cephalosporin antibiotics or any ingredient of the product. Inform the physician of any previous serious allergy to penicillins or other beta-lactam antibiotics, kidney problems, previous colitis, or use of anticoagulants such as warfarin. Seek urgent medical attention for severe allergic reactions or serious skin reactions. Persistent or severe diarrhea during or after treatment requires medical assessment. Cefixime should be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding only when considered necessary by the physician. Dose adjustment may be required in renal impairment. | Dose | Adults, elderly patients, and children over 10 years of age or weighing more than 50 kg: the usual recommended dose is 200–400 mg daily, given as a single dose or divided into two doses according to the severity of the infection. The usual treatment course is 7 days and may be continued for up to 14 days when required. Dose adjustment may be necessary in severe renal impairment. Use exactly as prescribed by the physician. |
