Canesten-1 Vaginal Cream 10% is a single-dose antifungal treatment for vaginal thrush caused by Candida. Each 5 g pre-filled applicator contains 500 mg clotrimazole and delivers the treatment directly inside the vagina to help relieve itching, burning, redness, soreness, and discharge associated with vaginal candidiasis.
Canesten-1 Vaginal Cream 10% is an intravaginal antifungal medicine containing clotrimazole 10% w/w. Each single-dose pack contains 5 g of cream, equivalent to 500 mg of clotrimazole, supplied in a pre-filled vaginal applicator.
Clotrimazole belongs to the azole group of antifungal medicines and acts against Candida fungi responsible for vaginal thrush. The product is designed as a complete single-application course delivered directly to the site of infection.
Vaginal candidiasis may cause persistent itching or burning around the vagina and vulva, redness, swelling, soreness, and a whitish discharge. By treating the underlying fungal infection, Canesten-1 helps relieve these associated symptoms.
The entire pre-measured dose should be inserted as high as comfortably possible into the vagina, preferably at bedtime. A small amount of cream may leak afterwards, so a panty liner may be useful.
Treatment should not be used during menstruation because it may be less effective. If symptoms have not improved within 7 days, medical advice should be sought.

| How To Use | Wash your hands before use. Remove the pre-filled applicator from its packaging and prepare it according to the enclosed instructions. Lie on your back with your knees bent and carefully insert the applicator as deeply into the vagina as is comfortable. Slowly press the plunger fully to deposit the entire 5 g dose, preferably before bedtime. Remove and safely dispose of the applicator, then wash your hands again. The treatment is normally given as one single application. |
| Warning | For vaginal use only. Do not use if allergic to clotrimazole or any ingredient in the cream. Do not use during menstruation because treatment may be less effective. Avoid tampons, vaginal douches, spermicides, and other intravaginal products during treatment. Vaginal intercourse should be avoided while the infection is present and during treatment. The cream may reduce the effectiveness of latex condoms and diaphragms; use alternative contraceptive precautions for at least 5 days after treatment. During pregnancy or breastfeeding, inform your doctor or midwife before use. During pregnancy, a treatment that can be inserted without an applicator may be recommended. Stop use and seek medical advice if an allergic reaction or worsening redness, burning, pain, itching, or swelling occurs. Consult a doctor if symptoms have not improved within 7 days.
